We got a puppy!

On December 26th my Mom told us she was leaving to go get her new contact lenses and told everybody that the house needed to be clean before she got home. When she got home we found out that she did go try to get her contacts but the eye doctor wasn't open. But she was able to go pick up a puppy that she and my Dad had been looking at for a few days.
They gave it to my brothers for their birthdays because they have been asking for a puppy for several years. They sat down for about 15 minutes trying to figure out names for him but they couldn't find one that really fit him until I suggested Buster and that name just sort of stuck.
When Buster was first brought home he would just sit on laps and only play a little. My parents were concerned that the puppy was too shy and wouldn't be a good playing dog but after a few days Buster was running around and causing trouble so we aren't that worried anymore.

Starting my Generation E Business

In September I started taking an Entrepreneur class which is part of a partnership with the public school system. The first few months consisted of surveys and pretty much anything that would take up time because we didn't have a full-time teacher. The first day we started the teacher we were going to have dropped saying that he forgot that he had an "obligation" although he only realized that when he found out he had a group of home-school students. So after weeks of having substitute teachers and teachers that didn't come prepared we finally got a teacher two weeks ago. In the two weeks she has been teaching we have done more work than we did the first few months! We are starting a group business at the Battle Creek Humane Society. We will be running our own gift shop, stocking it with the products that our group will be making.
I chose to make cat treats because there really aren't that many varieties of them and because I have a cat of my own to test them on. After a few days of price comparing and calculation I was able to finally make the treats this afternoon. It took me almost 2 hours to mix it up, cut it all out into star shapes and deal with the reeking of tuna. I was very relieved when I was finished because my samples are due tomorrow because we are going to go to the Humane Society to look at the area they have provided for us.


I am pretty excited about being able to do this because I volunteer there and its a great way to bring more people in to look at the animals and hopefully find them homes. Its a lot of fun to go there and help out, even brushing the cats or playing with the dogs makes a huge difference. A lot of the animals there have either been abandoned, picked up as a stray or born there.
